KULHANEK

Frances Louise Kulhanek, 76, of Waller, Texas has gone to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 3, 2003 after a long and courageous fight with cardiovascular disease.

She was born April 3, 1927 in Rosenberg, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Maxie Kulhanek. She is survived by her three sons, Maxie, Jr. (Junior), Charles and wife Ann, and Joe Kulhanek; brother-in-law, Carl Kulhanek and wife Judy; sisters-in-law, Margie Abel and husband W.E., and Dora Stratman; four grandchildren, Meghan, Christian (C.J.), Kyle, and Chandler Kulhanek; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, September 5, 2003 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waller, located at 1613 Key St. The funeral service will be held at St. John's at 10:00am on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice.

Faye Peardon, age 80 of Waller, passed away on September 1, 2003.  Mrs. Peardon is survived by her sons, Stephen F. Daugherty, Clayton Allen Daugherty, and Jeffrey Lynn Daugherty and wife Laura Lee; daughter, Rebecca Sue Barker and husband Kenneth W. Barker, Sr.; sister, Daisy Dell Terry and husband Jack; 9 grandchildren; and 18 grandchildren.

Albert Frank “Trey” Brewster III, infant son of Albert Frank Brewster Jr. and Michelle York Brewster, passed away on August 14, 2003.  Trey is survived by his parents; grandparents, Ellen Brewster, and Steve and Pam York; brother, Kenny Brewster; great grandparents, Sherman and Wilma York, and Larry and Patricia Warner; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Guy Stoops, age 51 of Hempstead, passed away on August 10, 2003.  Mr. Stoops is survived by his parents, George and Jean Stoops; wife, Kathy Stoops; son, Brett Stoops; father-in-law, Robert Kauffmann; brother, Michael Stoops and wife Lynda; brother-in-law, Daniel Robert Kaufmann and wife Sherry; and sisters, Goldie Bauman and husband Al, Patricia Stoops, and Marilyn Stoops.

Milton Eugene “Mick” Canon, age 74 of Magnolia, passed away on June 23, 2003.  Mr. Canon is preceded in death by his parents, Monroe D. and Norene Canon; brother, Gerald Canon and wife Doris; and is survived by his wife, Naomi; son, Milton E. Canon Jr.; daughter, Jerry Elisa Canon-Holdridge and husband Scott; step children, Cheryl Cook, “Bo” Dolan Johnson, and Larry Cooper; brothers, J.D. James Melvin Smith, age 57, born March 27, 1946 passed away at 6:10 p.m. on Sunday June 22, 2003.  He is survived by his fiancÚ, Lucille Hunt; son, Robert Alfred Smith; daughter-in-law, Kelly Smith; grandson, Tyler James Smith; mother, Winnie Wilson Smith; brother, Jack Howard Smith; sister, Elizabeth Darlene Bryan and husband Alvey Bryan; brother, David Allen Smith and Brenda Carter; brother, Ralph Eugene Smith and wife Toni Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Christopher Sheldon Smith; father, Alfred Eugene Smith; and brother, Larry Wayne Smith.

 James retired from Stran Steel and Harris County Precinct 3.   He was a member of Fairbanks United Methodist Church for 49 years.  He was a long time member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Swine Committee.

 Visitation will be Tuesday, June 24, 2003 from 6-9pm at Canon Funeral Home in Waller, TX.  Services will be held at Canon Funeral Home on Wednesday June 25, 2003 at 10:00 am.  Interment will be held at New Hope Cemetery in Field Store.  Pallbearers were Robert Smith, Ralph Smith, Brant Smith, Jack Smith, David Smith, Michael Bentke.

WENZEL

Alvena Wenzel, age 82 of Hockley, passed away on June 18, 2003.  Mrs. Wenzel is survived by her husband, Carl Wenzel; sons, Glenn Wenzel and wife Betty, and David Wenzel and wife Terri; daughter, Evelyn Ramsey and husband Larry; brother, Harril Harvie Necessary and wife Margie; sister, Joyce Mae Clay and husband Chester; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

CONYERS

Minna Lee “Tillie” Dolen Smith Conyers.  July 20, 1913 to June 3, 2003.  Born to Charles Paxton Dolen and Annie Zahn Dolen in North Houston, TX.  Predeceased by her parents; two husbands, Maynard A. Smith and B.A. “Chuck” Conyers Jr.; one sister; five brothers; and one niece.  Her legacy is left to two daughters, Beverly Smith Roulston and special friend, R.B. Schawe, of Brenham, and Nancy Conyers Horlacher and husband, Bobby, of Montgomery; a son, Michael Lucky Conyers and wife, Toni, of Spring; three grandchildren, Melissa Roulston, Todd Roulston and B.J. BURNUP

THOMAS NEAL BURNUP, born December 17, 1947, in Austin, Texas.  His long and hard fought battle with brain cancer ended on May 26, 2003.  He is survived by his parents, Dorothy and George Burnup of Austin, Texas; his loving wife, Sharon Burnup of Hempstead, Texas, one son, Thomas William Burnup of San Angelo, Texas, a step-daughter, Alana Doty and husband, Rick, of  Brookfield, Illinois;  brother, Mickey Burnup and wife, Karen, of Austin, Texas; sister, Debbie Wolf, and husband, Marty, of Morrison, Colorado; granddaughters Autumn Pearson and Sophia Doty; and numerous other family members and friends.  Tommy devoted his career of over 30 years to law enforcement, working for the Texas Department of Public Safety and for Harris County Sheriff’s Department.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and Texas Narcotics Officers Association, and was proud to have been an Eagle Scout.  Tommy was a Life Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, serving many years as a volunteer on the Go Texan Contest Committee and prior to that on the Health and Safety Committee.  For many years he served on the Waller FFA Sales Committee for their annual project show.  Tommy was always there to lend a helping hand to his friends and neighbors.  He loved the outdoors, his horses and livestock, and always enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He enjoyed his family and friends and embraced life with a passion.  Tommy was a dedicated, wonderful and loving son, husband, father and friend and a good and honorable man.   Visitation will be at Canon Funeral Home in Waller, Texas, on Thursday, May 29th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30th at Canon Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Mike Garrett and Father Ed Kucera officiating.  Graveside services and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on  Saturday, May 31st at Gamel Cemetery at Bluff Creek  in  Mason, Texas.  Special thanks go to the doctors and staff at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for their continuing efforts to find a cure and compassionate treatment during Tommy’s long fight.  For those who prefer, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for brain cancer research.

McCOLLUM

Jerry McCollum, age 58 of Hempstead, passed away on May 17, 2003.  Jerry is survived by his wife, Janie; sons, Richard McCollum and wife Cassie, and Michael McCollum and wife Lisa; daughters, Patti Burow and husband Paul, and Becca McCollum; sisters, Betty Cutler, Judy McCollum, and Clara McCollum; and 5 grandchildren.

A Vigil will be held at 7:00pm on May 19th at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Community.  Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at 10:00am at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Community in Hempstead with Father James Burkart officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Katharine Drexel Building Fund.

TUTEN

Charles Tuten, age 73 of Magnolia, passed away on May 18, 2003.  Mr. Tuten is survived by his wife, Evelyn; sons, Charles Tuten Jr. and wife Donna, Larry Tuten and wife Donna, Richard Tuten and wife Donna, and James Tuten and wife Sally; daughters, Donna Tuten, and Carla Martinez and husband Steve; brothers, G. W. Tuten, and Lee Tuten; sisters, Charlotte Klares and Patricia Thompson; 15 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

Mable Omega Sanderson age 100, passed Away May 17, 2003 in Tomball, Texas.  Mrs. sanderson is survived by her daughters, Billie(Sandy) Holt of Austin, Texas and Gloria Dawn (Tilger) Sanderson of Tomball, Texas; sisters, Pauline Carroll and Ruth Beard of Arcadia Louisiana; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. McCART

Thelma Claire Haney McCart, born November 20, 1924, entered heaven on March 31, 2003. A native Houstonian, she left her beloved hometown four years ago to support her family’s goals in College Station.  Thelma graduated from St. Mary’s Nursing Academy, Galveston, in 1947 and spent her life helping others. Even before she left nurses training with the Cadet Nurse Corps, she had cared for hundreds of victims of the Texas City Explosion. After a brief tenure in industrial nursing and public health, Thelma found her calling as a school nurse – first in Waller, then at Pasadena High School, where she brought comfort and guidance to thousands of young people in her 28 years there.  In retirement, Thelma enjoyed the fellowship of teaching the Joy Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, Friendswood, and she will be missed as a loyal supporter of the New Baden and Wellborn Bluegrass music gatherings.

Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Ellis McCart; two brothers, Charles and Revis; and a sister, Betty Jo. She leaves a daughter and treasured son-in-law, Debbie and Ray Rogers; granddaughter, Melissa Jill Williams; brother and sister-in-law, J. B. and Margaret Haney; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Haney, and Bea Mettauer Haney; brothers-in-law, Boyd Wells and Joe McCart and wife, Mary; and her beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Paul David Miller, 62, passed away on March 5, 2003 in Spring, TX. He was born on March 15, 1940 in Marshall, Texas to Nelson A. Miller Sr. and Anna Seago Miller. He attended Smiley High School in Houston. After graduation he entered San Jacinto Junior College for 2 years. He then attended the University of Texas, where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. After the war he returned to Houston where he married Sarah Dixon, and started his career at Hahn & Clay, then Bectel Corp., and finally ended with his retirement from Jacobs Engineering. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Ann Brown and husband William Arthur Brown III, and Christina Kate Miller; grandchildren, Mathew David Brown, William Arthur Brown IV, and Amber Hope Brown; brothers, Nelson A. Miller Jr., Charles H. Miller Sr. and wife Rose Mary, and William A. Miller and wife Irene; and numerous nieces and nephews. Earl Ransom "Pop" Peardon, born October 19, 1919 in Whiteside, TN, crossed over February 26, 2003 at Katy Hospital surrounded by his children. He was the youngest of 11 children and the last to survive. Preceded in death by father and mother, Jess and Clara Peardon; granddaughter, Crystal Kana; brothers and sisters; and several old friends. Survived by 2 sons, Steve Peardon and Randy Peardon and wife Juanita; 2 daughters, Sharon Davis and husband Dickey, Susan Kana and husband Richard; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; former, but still loving wife, Faye; and many, many friends.
